Short course offers understanding of surface texture, tribology

Michigan Metrology, experts in solving problems related to surface roughness, wear, texture and finish, will be hosting a surface metrology and tribology short course on April 11-12, 2019. Michigan Metrology’s Don Cohen, PhD will be leading the two-day short course in Livonia, Michigan. Dr. Cohen is one of the country’s foremost experts in surface roughness and its effects.

The course’s topics will include:
• Roughness, waviness and form
• Instruments for measuring texture
• Filtering surface texture measurements
• Surface texture parameters
• Wear
• Friction
• Sealing
• Surface energy
• Data analysis, and
• Specifying surface texture.
