While exhibiting at Reliable Plant in Cleveland a few weeks ago, Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. highlighted unique hydraulic fluids designed to give users peace of mind in tough environments. The company’s Purity FG Synthetic Fluid 46 was awarded Husky Approval last year, for use in Husky injection molding systems, particularly in food-grade applications.

Petro-Canada PURITY FG Synthetic Hydraulic FluidWith this fluid, Petro-Canada became the first supplier globally to provide both a food grade and non-food grade OEM approved hydraulic fluid. Its H1 food grade fluid, Purity FG Synthetic Fluid 46, joined its Hydrex AW 46 H2 non-food grade hydraulic fluid for plastic injection molding applications.

Purity FG Synthetic Fluid 46 surpassed the minimum 12 month field trial requirements to be awarded Husky approval for use in its injection molding equipment globally. The synthetic PAO-based products are formulated with selected additives to
protect against wear, oxidation, rust and corrosion.

Yvette Trzcinski, STLE CLS, Sr. Technical Services Advisor, Petro-Canada America Lubricants Inc. said that this food grade line is ideal for making packaging for the food industry. “The thought still is all food grade products are still horrible, you don’t get the endurance,” she said. But this product was tested for 10,000 hours without compromise she added.

It can be used in both hot and cold temperatures and wet food processing environments, offering high wear protection and extended drain capabilities.

Built for use across a wide range of challenging applications, such as rotary screw compressor, vacuum pump, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, the multifunctional Purity FG Synthetic Fluid 46 delivers outstanding oxidation stability that helps to reduce fluid degradation and prevent deposit build-up that often lead to operational issues, such as valve sticking and restricted oil flow. It also controls sludge and varnish in pneumatic, hydraulic and vane compressor/vacuum pump systems.

The Purity FG product family is formulated to provide:

  • Longer life through exceptional thermal stability and oxidation resistance
  • Excellent wear protection
  • High resistance to water washout when it comes to greases
  • Excellent water separability when it comes to oils

Petro-Canada’s Purity FG carries a full set of food grade lubricant and grease credentials including:

  • NSF H1 – for incidental food contact
  • Kosher Pareve and Halal certifications
  • Kosher for Passover and Halal certification
