Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies has been honored with a 2020 Top Workplaces Award from the Detroit Free Press. The award represents the third consecutive year since 2018 that employees at Freudenberg-NOK have identified the company as a great place to work. Freudenberg-NOK runs the business operations for Freudenberg Sealing Technologies in the Americas.
Employees working at the innovative sealing and electric mobility technology company participated in an anonymous survey sponsored by the Detroit Free Press, which resulted in the honor. They broke into applause at a recent virtual town hall meeting when they learned of the award.
Significantly, in a difficult, pandemic-influenced year, Freudenberg-NOK continued to improve its survey scores to move up in Top Workplaces ranking, noted Matthew Portu, President, Freudenberg-NOK.
“In a year when we all have struggled to adapt to a new normal in terms of our personal and professional lives, these survey results provide welcome testimony from our employees that they consider us an employer of choice,” Portu said. “In spite of 2020’s extraordinary business challenges, we continued to embrace excellence, flexibility, innovation, diversity and open communications that benefited our employees, customers and business partners.
“I am gratified by the results and achievements of Freudenberg-NOK as reflected in this competition,” Portu said. “And as in previous years, we will use these survey results to look for new opportunities for improvement and growth.”
Freudenberg-NOK ranked 43rd among 55 midsized Michigan companies which participated in the program, moving 11 spots higher on the list compared to its 2019 results. Freudenberg-NOK has approximately 5,000 employees working at 20 facilities across the Americas.
Small, medium and large companies participate in the Top Workplace competition in separate categories; 150 companies in total were honored with Top Workplace status.
The Detroit Free Press Top Workplaces Program has been a part of the corporate work scene in Michigan for the past 13 years. Companies are nominated and rated by their employees through an anonymous survey conducted by Energage, a Free Press research partner that tracks key workplace practices that influence how employees feel about their companies.
Freudenberg employees participating in the 2020 survey indicated satisfaction with the company in a variety of areas including culture, benefits and pay, career opportunities, financial stability, customer relationships, leadership and technology.
